　　电影《云图》（Cloud Atlas）改编自大卫·米切尔的同名小说。

　　《Cloud Atlas》（《云图》，2004）是大卫。米切尔的第三部小说。这本书由六段故事构成，从1840年一位美国人从悉尼旅行到旧金山的日记、二十世纪三十年代初居住在比利时的年轻作曲家、1975年卷入加利福尼亚灾难的年轻记者、当今伦敦出版回忆录的黑道、反乌托邦式的未来世界中新首尔发生的故事与一个老人叙述当时在夏威夷的青春自语为终结。

　　云图——地球上不同尺度的云层覆盖和充满变化的地表面特征的图像。（云图）书如其名，由六个环环相扣的故事组成，时间跨度为十九世纪到后末日时代，波及全球各地——1850年前后，太平洋，罹患寄生虫病的美国公证人亚当.尤因从查塔姆群岛乘船回国，航行途中目睹震惊场面；1931年，比利时西德海姆，身无分文的英国年轻作曲家罗伯特.弗罗比舍在音乐大师门下经历诸多爱恨情仇；1975年，美国加州布衣纳斯.耶巴斯，小报记者路易莎·雷冒着巨大危险调查核电站工程中的腐败和雇凶杀人；21世纪初，英国，被黑道追杀的出版人蒂莫西·卡文迪什被软禁在一家养老院中，苦不堪言；反乌托邦时代的未来，新首尔，宋记餐厅克隆人服务员星美－451反抗着缔造和剥削克隆人群体的社会；后末日未来，夏威夷，失去父亲的牧羊少年扎克里与高科技文明幸存者不期而遇……六位主人公或许是同一灵魂的化身，却又被印上截然不同的胎记。波诡云谲的故事情节与亘古不变的人类本性交织在一起，构成了一幅绚丽无比的云图。
　　小说时间跨越以公元1850年为始，一直延伸到后末日时期的未来，看似毫不相干却又环环相扣，因而被誉为有史以来最能挑战阅读想象力的小说。
　　电影《云图》在中国大陆有两个版本分别为删减版（131分钟）和北美公映版本（172分钟）。推荐观看172分钟版本，因为感觉删减版删去了一些必要的情节和对白。
